Salsa Weekend

This is a little late, but life has been chaotic since I visited Pontins for my first ever Salsa weekender. It was a really good weekend, whilst the accommodation was not very luxurious the dancing and the classes were very good and worth the cost, especially if you did what I did (went mad)and did about 6 hours each day and that was before the evening events.

My feet held out until about 4.30 on the Sunday, that was when I decided to call it a day – I was all danced out, so to avoid the rush on Monday morning home I toddled home on a sunny afternoon, with aching feet.

I went to this event totally on my own, which was a little daunting, but did see people I knew from the Stone salsa events. I would say that if you wish to experience a weekender go for it, even if you are attending on your lonesome – take the plunge, bite the bullet, whatever you want to call it – it is worth it, tiring but worth it.

I went to the doc’s the other day for my test results, I said "give it to me straight doc." He looked uncomfortably at his computer screen, avoiding my eyes, " I’m sorry about this, but there’s no doubt,..it’s..er..mm..it’s…salsa fever." I recoiled back in my chair,reflected for a moment, then asked "Doc, is this why I keep visiting masonic halls, social clubs and convents?" "I’m afraid so" he replied, "and what’s more, you’ll probably feel yourself being drawn to Blackpool or other similar places." "That’s already happened doc" I said, "I went a few weeks ago, but I don’t know why. I just felt that I had to be there." He nodded his head and looked up at me. "Doc" I said, "Be honest,..is there any hope?" "Six.. maybe twelve months" he replied," and then you’ll notice that you’ve begun to dance to a mediocre standard." "And then?" I asked,"what happens then?" "It depends" he replied, "It could go either way. Your best chance is to continue with therapy at the Groove Academy, to be frank it’s still a long shot." I slumped in the chair, "Er..thanks doc."
